Black tights - Primark
Now that the sun is beginning to show itself a bit more it means more opportunities to wear skirts (even if I'm still sporting tights - unfortunately). I put together this look as a casual take on some smart pieces in my wardrobe. I'm also unintentionally wearing different materials and textures; denim, leather with a quilted finish, faux fur and a combat jacket but I don't think either is too overpowering and it creates the perfect balance...
The jacket is an oldie, I bought it a few years back and stopped wearing it after a while because of the combat finish. It has 4 pockets on either side and shoulder details, making it look incredibly military which can completely overpower a look but I think in this instance it works quite well for a "rough around the edges" finished look. I'm also loving a bit of faux fur at the moment and love the collar on this jacket, it's also ridiculously warm which is great for the unpredictable weather in the UK, saves me from having to carry around a scarf wherever I go.
The denim shirt I'm wearing is a super casual which you can buy quite cheaply. Rather than opting for blue denim, I chose grey just because I think it's slightly easier to style but I'm definitely eyeing up the blue version for a complete denim-on-denim look. I paired the shirt with a quilted leather skirt. When I bought this skirt I thought I'd use it mostly for nights out but funnily enough I've never worn it to go out! I've worn it for dinners and casual lunch dates instead. For me the fit isn't great, partly because I'm pear-shaped and the skirt is an A-line fit, so it just constantly rides up which is such a pain!
As the weather is a bit more trust worthy I wore shoes instead of boots (shocker!). I'm always cautious about footwear because when it rains.. it seriously rains. But because it was so sunny I braved it and wore a pair of pointed black shoes; the point on these is patent which makes it look like a much classier shoe, good for us tall girls out there and anybody ditching the heels for a dressy pair of shoes. No prizes for guessing which bag I carried around with me haha! (If you've just come across my blog and don't know anything about this bag then take a quick look here).
Once again I've gone accessories-crazy. I wore my rose gold Michael Kors watch and matching Michael Kors bracelet - which has snapped for the billionth time now! I've been in store so many times but they won't fix it for me so it's currently looking pretty bad with loads of knots keeping it together; it hasn't got much longer left. I wore thin gold H&M hoop earrings and piled on some gold H&M rings including a moustache ring which I find so funny. With accessories I've become a "go big or go home" type of girl; my boyfriend has started to say I look like Mr T, not sure that's the look I'm going for though...
