Fashion is such a unique concept, yes there are trends we love and unsurprisingly become popular, but as trends filter into the clothing rails at our favourite high street stores it's our chance to put a spin on things. I often think how can I stand out wearing this when everybody else is wearing it too? I've been truly inspired by fashion icons this season, ranging from the bloggers I follow and love to the incredible Iris Apfel. Seriously, search Iris Apfel quotes and if you're not left feeling inspired then I don't know what else will get your creative juices flowing.
"There's no how-to road map to style, it's about self-expression and, above all, attitude."
This one stood out to me; trends don't need to be followed as such but more so created. We have the ability to customise all aspects of our life, not just the clothes we wear but also everyday things ranging from our phones (hello rose gold goodness) to our cars, the new DS 3 is a perfect example of customising every aspect! It feels like not too long ago since the influx of fashionable ladies and gents graced the streets of central London but now the focus has already moved on to the Parisian streets, the final location for this season and I've truly immersed myself in all things fashion over the past month including attempting to recreate catwalk styles myself.
I can't remember when I started loving flares, probably last season when the 70's blew up and I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to see them gracing the catwalk once again at the Holly Fulton and Ones To Watch catwalk shows, they're here to stay for at least another season! For an in depth look at those shows check out my recap of A/W16. You've seen these flares before (and trust me, this won't be the last you'll see of them either!) but I've really found the perfect pair in these. I attempted to recreate some of the styles I spotted this season including modern tailoring at Eudon Choi with the addition of my tailored duster coat. I can't help but love monochrome, although it wasn't something I saw much of on the catwalk - there was a surprising amount of colour featured this season - I'm happy to put my twist on things, making trends suit me.
