In a bid to include more beauty on my blog I've decided to start a little series (if you can call it that) every month - hopefully - I'm going to share 5 new products I'm currently trying ranging from makeup, skincare, tools and more. So here are 5 I'm currently trying this month and my thoughts on them so far.
1. Rimmel, Sculpting Palette
(002 coral glow)
This has been on my wishlist for a while and although it may not be new in stores, it's new to me. On first impression I think it's a great travel palette, it's compact and contains everything you need. The one thing I found with this compact is that there's a slight shimmer running through all three which I personally am not a huge fan of. I'm impartial to a bit of shimmer in blusher but I don't like my bronzer to have shimmer in it so I tend to avoid using this particular one. Having said that, I really love the highlight in this trio, it's somewhat subtle but still gives a really nice glow, I'm thinking of taking this with me to Portugal and shimmer is always a winner over the summer - maybe I'll love it on holiday!2. Pixi, Correction Concentrate/Concealer
(brightening peach)
This has popped up in the blogosphere a few times and I've been dying to try it so when I received it in this months Love Me Beauty box (get 20% off your first box using patricia20 at checkout!) I was ridiculously excited to try it. I haven't been sleeping too well recently which has led to dark circles building under my eyes which require a bit more than just one coat of concealer and this correction concentrate has been the perfect first step. It's peach in colour which works as a contrast against the darkness found under the eyes, I use this before applying my concealer and I think it works really well, it's a step I won't be skipping from now on.
3. Nars, Audacious Mascara
(black moon)
I've had this in my collection for a while but had yet to use it so having recently finished a mascara I decided now was the time. I have to admit I really wasn't impressed on first try, the wand is quite straight and I just don't think it gives me the effect I was after. I think it's a known fact by now that I really struggle with my lashes, I have very short and straight eyelashes which usually don't look great so finding a mascara I love is a constant struggle. After seeing a few girls using this one I decided to pick it up and at £22 it's not cheap! I'm going to keep trying it as it may be one of those that gets better with time - sometimes products I hate at first soon become products I love - I'll probably take this on holiday to Portugal with me and give it another shot.
4. It Cosmetics, Brow Power
(universal)
I must admit I was sceptical about this purely because of its claims of being a universal shade - surely a brow pencil for me (a dark brunette) can't be the same as a brow pencil for a blonde I thought but actually, somehow it works! Brow pencils tend to be my second choice when filling in my brows, the first being powder which you can see me use in my current brow routine here, but recently I've been reaching for this pencil over other products in my collection. The thin nib makes it super easy to apply, the colour surprisingly matches the tone of my brows and it's perfect for travelling as it has a spoolie too.
5. Ciaté, Pretty Stix
My favourite of them all has got to be these new lipsticks by Ciaté, I wasn't a fan of any lipstick that wasn't matte but recently this has changed. I think my new found love for a more creamy formula started with these; I tried on the shade BFF which I instantly thought I would hate because of the finish but actually, I loved it! It's a gorgeous brown colour, I wore it for a couple of days in a row and it has quickly become a go-to of mine. The formula is really creamy and applies beautifully on the lips, it almost feels like a balm. They're quite sheer on application so I definitely work in the bullet to get as much colour payoff as possible. It doesn't last incredibly long but it's such an easy one to throw in your bag and apply throughout the day as it's just so lightweight and feels nourishing on the lips. I'm really looking forward to wearing more of the shades, I have my eye on Chick Flick which looks like a gorgeous bright red to wear in Portugal - I have yet to try it though.
(L-R) Chick Flick, Boho, First Love, BFF, Vintage Blush
