What I'm Proud to Have Achieved In 2016

2016 achievements peexo
I know that over the next couple of weeks there will be a huge influx of New Year posts: resolutions, goals and so much more. But rather than share those, I want to talk about my achievements over the past 12 months.

Happy New Year! I always like to set myself some goals when the New Year comes around, however, this year I wanted to make a small change, and rather than talk about what I want to achieve over the next twelve months, I actually want to take the time to think about some of the things I'm proud to have achieved in 2016.

On My Blog...

Collaborating with new brands
Every year there are new brands I want to work with and 2016 was no exception. Whether it was me getting in touch with PR's or PR's getting in touch with me, this year I tried really hard to get in contact with more people in the industry. As blogging is such a new concept it can be quite hard to know the etiquette when it comes to communicating. There are still so many other brands I would like to work with in the future but so far, I couldn't be prouder of my collaborations to date.

Working on sponsored content
I feel like sponsored content is always such a tricky subject to delve into, there are a variety of mixed emotions and opinions about sponsored content - some people are all for it and others hate the idea of it (although I don't get why!) Nonetheless, I'm proud of the sponsored content I have worked on over the past year. As it's my final year of uni I have really been considering my options of work in the big wide world and more often than not I find myself striving towards making my blog my full time job. It's a scary prospect (even scarier now that I've actually shared it for the first time with you!) but it's something I would be so proud to achieve, so here's to big dreams!

On YouTube...

Subscribers
YouTube is one of those platforms I love but really struggle with. As much as I love creating content and coming up with new ideas I just don't have the time, money, or equipment to do everything I would like to do. Nonetheless, I do believe hard work pays off so I really wanted to work hard on my channel producing videos I was proud of and hopefully you enjoy watching too! YouTube is definitely different to the world of blogging, there are far more mean people on there and it can be quite difficult to keep going with lack of support but I've kept trying and am uploading videos at least once a week. Something that has kept me going is seeing new people subscribe to my channel daily, albeit a small milestone in comparison to major YouTube stars, I'm still pretty proud of what I have achieved and amazed that 2,821 people are subscribed to my channel.

12 Days of Christmas; 12 Days of Videos
I wanted to do something special on YouTube over the winter months, vlogmas is amazing and I love how so many of my favourite vloggers take part but I knew it wasn't for me. I was thinking about what I could do instead and decided to make the most of my Christmas holiday, and lack of deadlines, to share 12 new videos during the 12 days of Christmas (running from Dec 25 - Jan 5) My last few videos will be going up over the next few days and I'm really proud to have come up with this idea and persevered - it was much harder than I expected and probably not as rewarding as I thought it would be but I'm pleased I didn't give up.

Reaching 21k
A small milestone for some, and for others a huge one. For me it was a pretty big deal to reach 20k this year, I know we all say it isn't about numbers but none of us can deny that it feels nice to reach milestones like this one, however big or small they may be. It makes me feel good about what I'm producing and what I have achieved this year.

In My Personal Life...

Completing my year abroad
I haven't really spoken too much about my year abroad, I didn't enjoy it and had no idea how to go about it. I think I was so excited and adamant to make it a great year for me but when it didn't end up happening I felt somewhat deflated and unsure about everything. It was one of those things that I just wanted to get over and done with. I'm proud I soldiered on and finished the year but I definitely wouldn't want to do anything like it again... ever!

4 years with my boyfriend
I'm not sure if this is one to be proud of, nor is it an achievement (although if you knew my boyfriend and how annoying he is I'm sure you would be more than proud!) I don't really talk about my personal life often - I'm not typically an over-sharer - but you know, sometimes it's nice to mention. Andre and I have pretty much been in a long-distance relationship for the past 3 years and a bit (practically our whole relationship) we made it through me moving out of London for university for the first two years of our relationship, then I moved to France for my year abroad, and now I'm at my final year of university out of London once more. We've been going out for just over 4 years which seems like forever now and as much as he annoys me I'm happy. It's just one of those things that when you take the time to step back, think, and put everything into perspective - it all seems pretty incredible.

Here's to another year, and to more achievements!

What did you achieve in 2016?

  1. Sadly, I know some others who didn't enjoy their year abroad in Paris, France. You'd think it'd be an amazing experience but don't worry about that too much as it is obviously something a lot of people haven't enjoyed. You have accomplished so many other AMAZING things this year!
