I was challenged by Matalan to pick a staple holiday piece and style it from day-to-night, I just knew I had to pick a classic: the beach shirt. I've styled my pick in two different ways, changing up most of the outfit bar the beach shirt of course, to show you how easy it is to wear a key holiday piece from day-to-night.
In my opinion, the beach shirt is just a holiday essential, there's no other way to put it. Whether it be for a stroll on the beach, a day of exploring or an evening look, the beach shirt always works. Whilst I would typically wear this type of shirt open over a bikini on holiday, that obviously won't go down too well in the city. Instead, I opted for a really summery look that I still feel comfortable wearing in the UK. Starting with the beach shirt of course, which I merely unbuttoned loosely and tied at the waist for a more laid-back feel. Paired with some denim shorts which are a must-have in everybody's summer wardrobe right? Quick heads up, if you have your eye on these shorts then I would recommend going for a size smaller than your usual size if you want them to be fitted, I got these in a size 8 and I would personally prefer them to fit tighter so keep that in mind when buying. I kept the beach vibe throughout my look by adding a pair of brown espadrilles with gold rings scattered across the front and a crossbody bag of course!

Evening
To switch things up for the evening I tucked my beach shirt in to my jeans to create an outfit that I think would work for dinner/party/drinks. Underneath my shirt I wore a gorgeous white lace bralet, a small addition that probably won't be noticeable at first glance but as a beach shirt is quite sheer, wearing a lace bralet underneath can look super delicate and feminine especially when it peeks out of your shirt. I've been on the hunt for some pink jeans but couldn't really find a pair I loved and thought was worth buying so when I came across this pink pair at such an affordable price I knew I needed them! The frayed hem is a nod to the current trends and this colour will look gorgeous on holiday with a tan. To complete the look, I actually decided on some grey accessories which was a somewhat unusual addition to the colour palette but I love the cool tone it adds to the whole outfit. Achieved with a pair of grey court heels and a grey clutch which is an evening essential, particularly on holiday when you don't really go out with much more than some money, phone and hotel keys.

Thanks Ellie! I'm so pleased with how the outfits turned out too, especially in London - I think I would happily wear both in the city which is amazing X
