I always say this but my blog really allows me to experiment with my style without feeling silly for doing so. I welcome every opportunity to experiment style-wise but rarely experiment in other sectors of my life and blog. Today I wanted to share something different.
I constantly find myself feeling somewhat underwhelmed (for lack of a better word) with my photography. That's not to say that I don't put all my effort into what I create nor that I favour quantity over quality - it's just that no matter how hard I try or how much time I put into it - nothing seems to be perfect. Whilst I know perfect is mostly unattainable, I would like to feel as if I'm getting there but sadly, I don't. It's been a really long time since I've looked over some photos and thought wow, these look great. I'm really struggling photography-wise at the moment actually, I have a decent amount of camera equipment that I just don't know how to use properly so I end up spending so much money on tech but still feel like the outcome is mediocre. I envision the type of content I want to be creating but it doesn't always turn out the way I had imagined.
Whilst shooting a couple of weeks ago, Faith and I decided to try and experiment a little bit with the sunlight and create something different to my usual content and I'm really pleased with the results. I pulled together pieces from my wardrobe that really stood out and what felt like a bit of a mismatch initially, soon turned into something I really loved, and even more so after looking over the photos captured. I wore a silver pleated midi skirt from Little Mistress which glistened so beautifully in the sunlight and was a vision when twirling around or simply moving. Paired with an incredibly bold top from Twist x Turn, a new brand to me which is available on Topshop online and in their Oxford Street store! I love the puffy sleeves, these really take bell sleeves to a whole new level and again, they just move really well. Usually, I would dress this up with a pair of heels but as I was opting for something out of my comfort zone I decided to go for some palm print trainers from New Look which I've been wearing quite often (although I think this may be the first time you're seeing them on my blog). For the final touch, I added a silver bag from River Island.
We tried to experiment with movement and capture the light in different ways. I really enjoyed trying this style of photography which is quite different to what I usually produce so I hope you enjoyed seeing something different too!

Gorgeous look babe! I am having a style rut at the moment and I've got a few bad veins in my legs so want to start wearing more midi skirts and loose trousers - so this is definitely giving me major inspiration! Also, can't believe those trainers are from New Look! <3 xxx

Thank you Melanie! X
DeleteLove this!! I especially love the first photo, the movement in it is captured beautifully! I think it's always good to push yourself out of your comfort zone with your style once in a while, at the end of the day, it's only clothing, it can be taken off and changed, so there's no real consequence. And in my opinion, the possibility to experiment is what makes fashion so fun!

That's such a great way of putting it! I always try to experiment with my style as much as I can for those reasons. Thank you for your kind words X
