Weddings are hard to dress for and can actually end up being quite boring when the search typically defaults to finding a dress. Whilst I'll happily take any excuse to buy a new dress, I wanted to try and branch out a little from the usual (but if dresses are your thing then there's plenty more wedding guest outfit ideas on my blog here). My love for crop tops this summer has become apparent so I went for a bit of mix and match in order to create an outfit that I would happily wear to a wedding myself.
I've fallen in love with crop tops once again and I've been experimenting with the different ways I can style them in order to implement them into my day-to-day outfits; my most recent How To Style video featured an array of crop tops and different ways to style them so check out that video if you'd like to see some more crop top outfit inspo! But right now, we're talking wedding guest.

When choosing a crop top for a wedding I would opt for something simple, not too cropped nor too casual. In this instance, I picked out an orange/red crop top I've had in my wardrobe for at least a year now, it's from New Look - similar here - and I find the style is super easy to wear and really flattering, especially if you don't have a large bust as the frills help accentuate what you do have. It's a great length on me baring only a little bit of midriff when paired with something high waisted.
I love a tight fighting midi dress or a pencil midi skirt, usually I save the latter for fancy nights out or dinners but I thought I'd trial a wedding guest look around a midi skirt and crop top combo this time around. In order to pair the two pieces in a more seamless way, I chose to focus on matching the colour which not only helps to disguise the fact you're wearing a two-piece but also helps with the general flow of the outfit as at first glance, I find it looks like you're wearing a dress. You can instantly tell that this skirt is slightly more on the pricey side as soon as you look at it, the lace is so intricate and it's just a beautifully made piece. My skirt is from Boden and honestly just so perfect for summer weddings and any formal occasion, it's definitely a skirt I will be saving for special occasions as opposed to a night out.
I kept my accessories simple as the talking piece of the outfit is the midriff baring crop top and midi skirt combo; a pair of black strappy heels from Missguided and a summery clutch from Kate Spade complete this summer's wedding guest look.

As there's only a bit of midriff on show I think it's still really pretty and wedding appropriate too so win, win! X
