I'm slowly but surely filling up my wardrobe with a vast array of red dresses. Wrap dresses, midi dresses, a-line dresses, embroidered dresses and so many more! I've definitely noticed - it would be hard not to - that the colour red has been creeping up and taking over my summer wardrobe.
I don't know about you but red isn't a colour I would instantly associate to summer and it can be quite hard to dull down vibrant reds so that they're everyday ready (although there's no guide to what's right or what's wrong, it's just personal preference). This summer I've made a pact to add more colour into my wardrobe - especially now that the sun is shining - and a red dress does exactly that. I quite like choosing something where, similarly to this dress, the floral print distracts you from the bold colour choice. It's such an easy way to make red both more accessible and more wearable, particularly if it's not your thing but you want to experiment.
This dress in particular from AX Paris via Brand Attic has got everything going on, gorgeous sleeves for if you're not too keen on baring your shoulders and/or upper arm - I know that come summer those can be considered problem areas for some people. It features a real wrap which appears to be a new term I've adopted since filming my How To Style Wrap Dresses video, that you can physically adjust and tie around your waist with the strings (I've found some wrap dresses are either pre-attached or have a button fastening as opposed to using the actual string - if that makes sense). A real wrap is flattering on any shape in my opinion as you can really cinch in your waist.
It's so easy to dress up a red dress but I kept things really casual with my beloved pair of converse, I'm not sure whether I've ever spoken too much about them but they are all white, leather converse which I absolutely adore. They're slightly more expensive than the originals but I find their longevity is so much better, I had an original pair of converse in black and I found the canvas ripped on the sides - partially my fault for never being bothered to untie the shoelaces before sliding in my feet - but these have no signs of any wear or tear and I've had them for so long now! I'm still super obsessed with crossbody bags and this tan one from Shoeaholics has been the perfect summer accessory to add to any outfit. It's not as spacious as I would like but it fits in all my essentials which is enough. Plus, it has an extra pocket on the back which I absolutely love to slot in my oyster card whilst out and about without having to open up the bag on my travels.
