It's heartbreaking to hear about all the forest fires that are devastating Portugal at the moment, it's scary to feel the constant threat of fires spreading through the country. Whilst forest fires aren't a new occurrence in Portugal, every year they seem to get worse, affecting so many people and always the most vulnerable in villages like mine, surrounded by greenery.
There hasn't been a single day yet that I haven't either seen smoke emerging from a distance, or smelt burning. On the day we arrived in Porto, we flew through a cloud of smoke which we could see from the airplane window - something I've never seen before. Fortunately, my family and I have been at a safe distance but these fires devastate Portugal yearly and it's crazy to have to learn to cope with it. Despite this, fear shouldn't stop you from celebrating what is beautiful and people in villages like mine pride themselves in their land and what they cultivate. This being one of the most beautiful vineyards I have ever seen nearby.
My auntie and uncle actually found this vineyard and only a day after arriving in Portugal they drove me there one evening so I could see for myself. There are acres of land covered by vineyards packed with grapes ready to be harvested for wine. I knew this was a location I was desperate to shoot in.
So upon my return I knew exactly what I wanted to wear, the most idyllic countryside outfit. A white midi dress from New Look, which I almost picked up in black but then decided that the white was much more appropriate for the summer. Paired with some espadrille wedges which I bought from Topshop for a video I'm planning to film (I've really fallen behind on my upload schedule but am hoping to get back into routine soon!) I put on some of my favourite jewellery, I absolutely love layering necklaces at the moment and I've got some really beautiful new pieces to share - I think I'll do a blog post on my favourite jewellery soon so I can show you everything in more detail! And finally, I added an exaggerated pair of sunglasses from Dorothy Perkins which I adore, they have a grey marbled effect which I think makes them super fun to wear as well as disguises the fact they're pretty big for my small face.

Love this location and outfit girl! That's such a shame about the fires! Hope it improves rather than gets worse!

Thank you Isobel, this year I've embraced the countryside surrounding me! It really is heartbreaking, the heat is just insane around here so this happens yearly but thankfully people have been safe X
DeleteYou look beautiful! I had no idea there were so many forest fires in Portugal - so scary! I hope people are safe xx

Thank you lovely! Yes, most people have stayed safe thanks to the work of firefighters in the country who literally don't stop! X
