It's OK If You Haven't Found Your Personal Style In Your 20's

A lot of things happen when you're in your 20's, it's that period of growing up/getting your sh*t together/graduating/getting a job and just general adulting. You'd think that as you near adulthood things like determining your personal style would fall into place naturally but what if it doesn't?

Ever since Louis Vuitton launched their Star Trail Collection, I've been seeing so many more chunky boots hit the high street. This is a style that is just so far from what I would typically say is my style but at the same time, there's something about them that has completely won me over. I initially spotted a pair of chunky ankle boots on River Island which I fell head over heels for (excuse the pun) but they were a little on the pricey side and I just wasn't sure whether I would get enough wear out of them to push me to invest straight away.

I do ongoing work with New Look over on Instagram so I get given a voucher monthly to pick and choose some bits online. Whilst I was browsing online towards the end of September, these caught my eye and I just knew that it was the perfect excuse to take the plunge. Who else thinks it's much easier to spend vouchers than real money because it doesn't leave you feeling as guilty? Since then, I've seen so many more pairs and whilst I'm not sure I'm ready to buy another pair just yet, I've surprised myself with how much I've worn them and how often I reach for them. Oh, and how ridiculously comfortable they are too! Who'd have thought such a high heel would be so comfy to walk in?!

My style is always changing, I often get asked which 3 words I would use to describe my style and I honestly think it's one of the hardest questions to answer. There really aren't 3 words to describe my style as it's constantly changing.

I see so many girls, particularly on Instagram, who look like they have their style down but I don't feel that way. My style is a bit all over the place, one week I'll be wearing bright jumpers and the next I'll be in head-to-toe black, one day I might be in the mood to look girly but then on another I may feel the complete opposite and opt for a more rough around the edges kind of look (is that even a thing or did I just make that up?) Basically, I still haven't determined my style.

I remember when I started my blog, almost 4 years ago now, and I thought this would be the platform that would help me really define my style, help me discover my personal style and ultimately, this blog showcases my journey to my style discovery. Yes, it looks incredible when you're scrolling through Instagram and come across someone's feed or aesthetic which is so refined and just generally speaking #goals but it can also leave you feeling like you don't have your sh*t together because your feed/aesthetic/life doesn't look or feel that way.

This outfit is a prime example of the mix in my wardrobe. There's just so much going on, so many different styles pieced together and I really like how it looks despite it not being very me. My floral blue midi dress is from Glamorous, it has a high neck and is the perfect midi length which is great for this time of year. I paired it with my faux leather jacket from River Island which I've had for so long and I absolutely love; this biker jacket is particularly great to wear over thin tops, Tshirts or dresses as the sleeves are elasticated which I wasn't a fan of at first but now it's one of my favourite features of the jacket. My bag is an oldie from Marc b., necklace is Chupi (of course) and I've definitely spoken enough about these New Look boots already!

So who is there to judge? Your 20's are years of discovery, discovering yourself, your style, your true friends and so much more. I don't think anybody feels like they have their life together in their 20's and that's OK.

    1. Maybe there's no such thing as having one true style - who knows! I personally love experimenting with my style and different trends and I don't see that changing! X

  3. These photos are sooo beautiful! I describe my style as eclectic, I definitely dress to suit my mood and I don't want to be put in a box. These shoes are just lovely, as is your dress! Love the feminine meets edgy combo.

    1. Thank you so much, that really means a lot! The mix of the two was what inspired me to write this post, I feel like there's really no distinct style in this post and I realised that that happens really often when I get ready in the mornings X

  4. I completely agree with you - I still haven't find my personal style, because I like changing things up all the time. I like trying new things and seeing what I like/dislike or what suits me or doesn't suit me.
    I love those boots!

    1. Exactly! I'm always keen on experimenting with new trends and styles which I think is perfectly fine. It can be hard when it seems like everyone around you has their style down and you don't but it's good to know I'm not the only one X
