More often than not I would say I don't really have a distinct personal style however, I do have my style comfort zone. If you've just scrolled through my blog a few times then I'm sure you will probably know what my wardrobe staples are: ankle boots, high waisted jeans and a top or jumper tucked in. I've always said that I experiment much more with my style thanks to my blog but those three pieces are my fail-safe and ultimately, my style comfort zone (a term I have 100% just made up but I hope it makes sense).

I recently popped in to The Cords & Co. London store to try my luck at finding a pair of corduroy trousers as the style is becoming more and more popular. I came across the mom fit which is a style of trouser I haven't worn in a really long time! These are a low-rise which is definitely not my first choice when it comes to trousers (how can I tuck in my tops?!) but I liked their slouchy fit and fell in love with this shade of blue so I brought them home to style with pieces I already have in my wardrobe. It's most definitely jumper weather now so I picked out an asymmetric knit seeing as I couldn't tuck it in, I thought I may as well be a little more adventurous!
& you know me, when I'm not sure about something I will always revert to a few of my wardrobe classics and on this instance it was my tan accessories - crossbody bag from Shoeaholics and ankle boots from Next. These pieces just seem to go perfectly with everything I wear, I'm so pleased with them!
It's much easier for me to step out of my comfort zone throughout the summer as this could be by wearing a dress I wouldn't usually wear or a skirt and top combo that I don't choose often. However, when it comes to winter I just want to wrap up warm and I end up wearing and re-wearing the same things over and over again. That's why I'm trying to be a little more daring this winter and as it's too cold for shorts and skirts, I'm experimenting with new cuts, hems and styles.

I undertand you because I wear the same uniform - a comfy jumper tucked in high-waisted jeans and a pair of boots or flat pumps - and it feels strange to move away from what we're used to wearing. We also tend to buy the same sort of stuff every time so it's hard to get why we feel like we have nothing to wear! That's why it is so important to get out of our comfort zone and try new stuff to wear, play with proportions and who knows, we may extend this feel safe bubble and get more confident with our daily style :)

I completely agree Margaux! Experimenting always helps me come across new pieces and styles I typically wouldn't have picked and I end up falling in love with them X
DeleteYou have such an incredible figure, you could wear anything! These cords look fantastic on you. I love pushing myself and stepping outside my comfort zone.
