If you're a long-time reader then I'm sure you'll know that I'm all for experimenting with my style, trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone. Having recently fallen for trousers (and subsequently added a few new pairs into my wardrobe) followed by a new-found love for baker boy hats (after finally finding some that fit) has left me itching to try more new things. Having been recently approached by Style Doctors for a personal styling session of course I jumped at the opportunity and said YES! It can be so refreshing to see other people's ideas and styling some outfits on your behalf.
SHOP THE POST:
I'm used to walking up and down Oxford Street but rarely pop in to stores, I'm well and truly an online shopper - anything that means I don't need to brace both the cold and people is a winner for me - plus, everything looks different when tried on at home right? At least that's what I tell myself. With that said, we were on Oxford Street in the early afternoon and the shops were surprisingly quiet making it quite a nice experience.
Style Doctors set me a challenge to find an outfit in just 1 hour on Oxford Street. Their team is made up of award winning style consultants including personal stylists, shoppers and makeup artists in both the UK and US. Myself, Elin and Megan (from the Style Doctors team) took to Oxford Street on the hunt for a perfect outfit to fit my brief of Clueless meets city girl vibe.
We went to Zara and River Island to get some outfit inspo and you obviously know what I went with in the end, the green two-piece suit of dreams of course (blazer here and matching shorts here). It's a Zara number and it would have been perfect for London Fashion Week - I only did one day this season though so didn't get the chance to wear it there!
I basically wanted the suit to do all the talking and opted for black accessories - the safe option. In store I added more colourful items which I think would be perfect for spring but we're not quite there yet! I pulled on my satin thigh high boots from New Look which have gone in their end-of-season sale and are now down to something ridiculous like £17 so I seriously think it would be rude not to snap them up! They're such a daringly cool piece to add to your shoedrobe.
Alongside that I added a round black bag, also from New Look, I've been seeing so many round bags popping up all over the high street recently so naturally I snapped one up as soon as I could. As much as I love buying in to trends I very rarely make a serious commitment without knowing whether it's something I will get my wear out of. I like to give a trend a whirl with a more affordable alternative and then if I love it/get a lot of wear out of it, I know it could be a good piece to invest in!
What do you think of this look and what I paired it with? I'd love to read your thoughts below!

DeleteWe loved working with you and you look fantastic in the final outfit! xo
ReplyDeleteThis suit definitely fits the brief, but that third outfit is absolutely my fave - is the whole lot from River Island?
ReplyDeleteYes! Head-to-toe River Island, the jeans were amaaaazing and I'm definitely considering picking them up X
