Admittedly these types of blog posts are kind of hard to put together because since graduating from university, I went straight into full-time blogging. Full-time blogging doesn't involving commuting to and from an office on a daily basis so my workwear probably varies from the average persons. With that said, I've always loved putting together outfits that look a bit smarter whether it's for an important meeting or just because (because we don't always need an excuse to dress up smartly).
I wanted to steer clear from what I would consider strict office workwear from the likes of watching series' like Suits and instead, go for something that I think would work in various different office environments. This outfit would slot perfectly into a smart-casual office but can also easily be smartened up or dressed down.
Starting with these Miss Selfridge trousers. A smart, rust coloured pair of culottes which instantly scream autumn to me. With the addition of the belt, I think these make the perfect pair of back to work trousers. I decided to wear a casual white shirt from Topshop which I think would be acceptable in most office environments but if you want a smarter look then switch this for a more classic button down et voilá!
A pair of heels help add some boss vibes to your outfit and I would always choose a block heel on days when I want to be comfortable but also add some extra height. Heels always make me feel so much more confident, despite not needing the extra height they give. As soon as I put on a pair of heels I just feel like I can take on the world! I slipped on my tan heeled sandals from Office and I'm good to go. Again, these can be easily swapped out for a pair of court heels or flats depending on your preference.
I threw all of my essentials into this string bag from Topshop (which honestly, if you haven't seen enough of throughout this summer then where have you been?!) Whilst I know it's probably not the most office friendly, it's once again something that can so easily be switched for a larger bag that can accommodate all your work day essentials, including your laptop.
So there we have it, a back-to-work outfit. If you work in an office then let me know what your go-to outfit is - is it a blouse paired with a pencil skirt? Or, a shirt and trousers?

Inject some fun with accessories! Silk scarves are here to stay and I'm so here for it, I loved styling mine throughout the summer and I'm so excited to continue to do so with some more autumnal picks over the next few months. It's such a nice way to add a bit of texture to an outfit, something a little bit different that adds a bit more personality to your look. The one I'm wearing is from New Look and incorporates one of this season's hottest trends: leopard print!
Whilst I totally appreciate that this may not be acceptable in every office environment, I love how easy it is to incorporate into an outfit without being too much of a statement. If you don't think you could get away with wearing one in your hair then opt for tying one around your neck or the handle of your handbag instead.
