The importance of a good night's sleep cannot be disputed. Sometimes, I find
myself struggling to get to sleep due to different factors including holding
onto stress from the day, anxious feelings towards the week ahead and also the
temperature - London is currently in the midst of a heatwave which always
makes it more difficult to get to sleep. But, there are many things I do to
help me relax and unwind to ensure I get the best sleep.
One of the best feelings is getting into bed with freshly changed bedsheets.
This is typically part of my Sunday routine so that I can get a full night's
rest before a new week starts. Along with the usual task of switching out my
bedding, I also recently changed my
pillows
to something new too.
I opted for the Tempur Comfort Pillow Original which moulds to your shape
whilst you sleep and then bounces right back to its original shape thanks to
the patented Tempur envelope containing medium feel micro-cushions. I've always been a side
sleeper and Tempur caters to those who favour sleeping on their side as they
stock an array of different pillows including
pillows for side sleepers, pillows for back sleepers, pillows for front sleepers and
firm pillows
too. There are options people! There's a very helpful quiz you can take on
their website which helps you determine which pillow is the best for you.
Another way I try to ensure a full night's sleep is by giving myself time to
unwind at the end of the day. I spend a lot of time in front of tech, whether
it be getting work done on my laptop or scrolling through Instagram on my
phone, I use technology all day long. By the time I'm ready to get into bed, I
feel like my mind is still very active so I need to do something to wind down
and let my mind rest.
Reading in the evenings is one of my favourite ways to unwind before going to
sleep. I actually find myself reaching for a book so much more throughout the
summer and especially in the evening before bed. Resting on my pillow reading
a book before bed is my idea of perfect to be honest. Often I fall asleep with
a book in hand, having drifted away to sleep whilst reading.
